About The Position

SP Industries Inc. is hiring for our team in Vineland, NJ and has an immediate opening for an Upright Shrink Operator. The hours for this position are Monday- Thursday on 1st Shift - 4/10s schedule. This role involves performing a wide variety of duties related to the preparation of Pyrex, Quartz, and other types of glass for shrink operations, ensuring that parts meet customer and/or internal company specifications by reading and interpreting drawings and specifications. The operator will use various measuring instruments to maintain quality standards, execute sustained production, and manage the supply of replacement parts. A strong emphasis is placed on observing all environmental, health, and safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE and waste disposal. The position also requires maintaining quality and production standards, understanding BOMs and routers, and working in a safe manner.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of glass experience
  • Appropriate hand and eye coordination
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Basic 5S concepts
  • Prior experience working in a team oriented environment
  • Proficient in math
  • Ability to read and speak English
  • High School diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Light travel to alternative location (Buena, NJ) as needed

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of duties involving the preparation activities to shrink Pyrex, Quartz and other types of glass
  • Perform shrink preparation operations on parts to meet customer and/or internal company prints and specifications
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications that are written in English
  • Use a variety of measuring instruments to ensure parts meet quality levels
  • Execute sustained production in shrink preparation department
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Assist the lead supervisor when the need arises for replacement parts, tools and/or supplies
  • Observe all precautions, rules and regulations related to environmental, health and safety matters (i.e., PPE, properly deposing of wastes, etc.)
  • Maintain quality and production standards
  • Understand BOM’s and routers
  • Work in a safe manner and report any health, safety or environmental concern to their manager or supervisor in a timely manner
  • Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods
  • Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts
  • Report defect in any equipment or protective device
  • Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks
  • Attend all required health, safety and environmental training
  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
  • Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
