Upper School Spanish Faculty

Tahoe Expedition Academy & Tahoe Summer CampsTruckee, CA

About The Position

At Tahoe Expedition Academy, Spanish is a passport to language, to culture, and to a world our 9th through 12th graders are already shaping. This is a role for an educator who wants to teach with consequence: three rich sections spanning Spanish 1, 2, and 3/4, a CREW advisory cohort, and an elective course shaped by your own expertise and passions. The field is where TEA comes alive. You will help co-lead several weeks of fieldwork per year, sometimes in Spanish-speaking countries where language instruction becomes lived practice. You will be a visible, trusted role model. Our Upper School faculty are mentors that 9th through 12th graders look to for rigor, warmth, and the kind of guidance that outlasts any single course.

Requirements

  • Preferred fluency in Spanish; reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Preferred experience teaching Spanish 1–4 at the secondary level.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for project-based, expeditionary learning.
  • Willingness to lead multi-day backcountry and international fieldwork.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and knowing students deeply.
  • Strong attendance, follow-through, and collegial spirit.
  • Physical ability to work outdoors in Sierra Nevada conditions.
  • Physical ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach three sections spanning Spanish 1, 2, and 3/4.
  • Lead a CREW advisory cohort (weekly, grade-level cohort).
  • Teach an elective course designed around your strengths.
  • Co-lead several weeks of fieldwork per year, sometimes in Spanish-speaking countries.
  • Serve as a visible, trusted role model for 9th through 12th graders.
