About Upper School English The Upper School English program at The Village School emphasizes the development of students as thoughtful readers and purposeful writers. Instruction balances independent reading, collaborative discussion, formal and informal writing, and focused study of vocabulary and grammar to prepare students for engaged citizenship and lifelong learning.
