About The Position

The mission of The Vanguard School is to help guide students in development of their character and academic potential through academically rigorous, content-rich educational programs. The Upper Elementary Content Instructor (Math) is responsible for effectively planning and implementing lessons with fidelity to approved existing curriculum, teaching up to four math classes each day, providing quick and consistent feedback via graded assignments, maintaining up-to-date electronic gradebooks using Infinite Campus, managing classroom climate and operation, and delivering effective instruction that promotes achievement. Additionally, the instructor must meet professional responsibilities, model and support students in developing virtuous character, support the school’s mission through fidelity to policies and practices, create a positive culture of inquiry and learning, communicate with parents in a proactive and professional manner, and consistently implement accommodations and modifications for children on plans as specified. The role also involves monitoring up to two carlines and two recesses or a lunch each day. The instructor will serve as a resource for building staff, administrators, and parents in working with students and creating a positive school climate, develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and families, and model the school’s values and standards for professional behavior.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Highly Qualified (HQ) status is required
  • Successfully pass the PRAXIS 5903 Mathematics within 90 days of hire
