This position requires 3 years of UPH experience, and the technician needs to be fluent in Corridor, drawing reading, and UPH tasks. The Upholstery Technician III will work independently to design, fabricate, and install upholstery and trim items in aircraft interiors. They will assist the Shop Lead by overseeing projects and providing guidance and direction to co-workers, and will mentor and train other Upholstery Technicians. The role involves fabricating and installing seat covers, curtains, and various assemblies and subassemblies, interpreting material specifications and design/engineering drawings, and sewing, fabricating, and installing covers for all styles of panels in the aircraft interior while meeting safety, quality, and productivity standards. The technician will use the material tracking system, Corridor, to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off work. They will also work with design/drawings to cut and install advanced custom design carpets with unique patterns. Additional responsibilities include accepting Lead responsibilities when needed, overseeing projects, delegating tasks, conducting safety audits, assisting in maintaining shop equipment, complying with and championing Safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, and mentoring and training lesser skilled technicians. The role also involves working with the Lead and higher skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements using Lean Six-Sigma tools.
