Upholstery Technician I - Weekend Shift

About The Position

This position is for the Weekend shift UPH team, working Friday through Sunday, 12-hour shifts. The role involves fabricating and installing upholstery, covering panels, and making simple patterns for aircraft interiors using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications. The individual will join our Weekend shift Upholstery team and will initially train on the 1st shift for a minimum of six months or until skills are adequate before transitioning to the weekend schedule. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand proficiently the English language.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to use measuring tools and perform basic math computations.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with sewing and leather work is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of and proper usage methods for most hand tools, table saw, bandsaw, router, and cordless power tools preferred.
  • Mechanical background, mechanic, woodworking, cabinet building, and/or finish carpentry experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must possess a strong willingness to learn and work within a team environment.
  • Experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers and/or various hand tools used in upholstery and carpet trades is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical upholstery functions within design, customer, FAA, and Gulfstream specifications.
  • Complete specific installation and trim tasks in compliance with work order instructions and specifications.
  • Fit panels and windows, cabin head liners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, and windows.
  • Cut and surge carpets.
  • Cover bulkheads.
  • Fabricate various metal parts.
  • Cover and install panels.
  • Create carpet patterns per design drawings and complete installation.
  • Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign-off work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
