Under minimal supervision, this role fabricates and installs upholstery, covers panels, and makes simple patterns for aircraft interiors using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications. The position involves working with various materials such as fabric, vinyl, leather hides, and composites, using specified adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools, and various power tools. Responsibilities include cutting and surging carpets, covering bulkheads, and covering/installing panels. The role may also involve fabricating metal parts, fitting panels and windows, cabin headliners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, and windows. The Upholstery Tech II will utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off on work. Additionally, this role will collaborate with lead and higher-skilled technicians to implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing techniques to enhance safety, reduce costs, cycle time, and man-hours. Compliance with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, along with the use of personal protective equipment, is mandatory. The position requires addressing unsafe conditions before putting others at risk.
