About The Position

The Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS) Internship Program offers college students meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom and prepare them for successful careers. This unpaid internship program allows students to earn valuable course credit while gaining practical experience alongside dedicated professionals. Interns receive mentorship from experienced Community Supervision Officers and other professionals while exploring various career paths within the agency. Interns can contribute to areas such as Finance, External Affairs, Information Technology, Human Resources, and other administrative functions, gaining real-world knowledge, developing professional skills, and making meaningful contributions to the agency's mission. Exceptional performance may lead to contingent employment opportunities for students approaching graduation, providing a pathway from the classroom to a career in public service.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful alien.
  • Must be a junior, senior, or graduate-level student at a 4-year accredited college/university.
  • Must have a minimum Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) of 2.5 (no rounding) for unpaid internships.
  • Must be majoring in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Political Science or Public Administration, Pre-Law, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Economics, Journalism, Management, or Human Resources.
  • Must be recommended by a faculty member.
  • Must have no criminal history of offenses involving moral turpitude or a pattern of disregard for public safety. Careful consideration will be given to any criminal history the applicant might have.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties of a community supervision officer if seeking a Community Supervision Officer Internship.

Responsibilities
