About The Position

Leidos is seeking an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Processor to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) Team. This position will support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Western Service Center (WSC) Operations Support Group (OSG) in Des Moines, WA. The candidate will provide support to various Air Traffic Control Towers, Terminal Radar Approach Controls (TRACON), Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC), and FAA Air Traffic Organization headquarters and Regional offices. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and 4+ years of prior relevant experience OR Masters degree with 2+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of relevant experience maybe considered and/or accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Previous designation as a FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC).
  • Experience in a staff environment preparing written documents, memos and briefs.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (To be eligible for Public Trust Security Clearance, one must be either a U.S. Citizen OR a U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder OR working in the USA with a temporary protected status (TPS) visa who has resided in the U.S.A for the past 3 years of the past 5 years consecutively with No breaks OR leaving the country. One must be able to show documentation of proof once asked by security or the FAA.)

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expert (SME) expertise by evaluating applications for Certificates of Waiver or Authorization (COA) to access the NAS with UAS.
  • Conduct feasibility analysis in coordination with Air Traffic (AT) facilities, writing and coordinating Special Provisions to define flight operations, and review and distribution of final approved COA’s.
  • Provide SME support for proponent and FAA facility inquiries regarding the COA process, requirements, and operating areas.
  • Provide review, recommendations, research, and analysis of UAS activities, requirements, and processes.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) expertise and support on UAS policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as ATC SME for on-call duties, as required, which include but is not limited to handling and communicating VIP movements, relaying and forwarding key messages, Notice to Air Missions (NOTAMS), Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) authorizations, and airspace waivers.
