About The Position

Centerstone is seeking a therapist with experience treating individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. This is an opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team. No weekend or on call work required. The role involves developing therapeutic rapport with clients, conducting diagnostic assessments (including risk and substance use assessments), and providing concurrent documentation within 24 hours. Responsibilities include providing assessment services and individual (and possibly family) therapy, developing and implementing treatment plans based on ongoing assessment and client input, and utilizing empirically based modalities for mental health or substance abuse diagnoses. Progress notes must be completed within agency guidelines. The therapist will respond to supervisory requests for urgent care situations and coverage for vacant caseloads, including telephone and face-to-face interventions, and keep the administrative supervisor informed of potential issues impacting the program or organization.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Mental Health (MH) Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a specialization in MH Counseling.
  • License-eligible in respective discipline preferred.
  • If Master's degree is in a related field outside of the disciplines listed above, completion of at least 24 graduate-level semester hours in psychology, social work, counseling, or other behavioral health-related coursework.
  • Relevant coursework and work experience in Clinical treatment and treatment planning, Appraisal and assessment of mental disorders, Psychopathology, Use of the DSM for diagnostic purposes within a clinical internship or practicum in a behavioral health setting.
  • Clinical experience is required (may be fulfilled through clinical practicums or internships completed as part of a master’s degree program).
  • Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Coordination, ability to organize, and plan are critical for this role.
  • Responds to needs of consumers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Demonstrates good clinical judgment in decision making regarding consumers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop therapeutic rapport with clients – Meet with clients as scheduled to aid in development of therapeutic relationship.
  • Diagnostic Assessment – Formulate a provisional diagnostic assessment based on information presented, identify need for risk assessment (to include substance use assessments).
  • Concurrent Documentation – Completes documentation within 24 hours.
  • Provide assessment services, individual (and possibly family) therapy to those identified with substance use issues.
  • Treatment Planning – Developing, writing, implementing, evaluating and revising overall treatment goals/objectives and plans per ongoing assessment of needs and input from the individual based on their identified strengths.
  • Therapeutic Interventions – Use of empirically based modalities to engage and manage their mental health or substance abuse diagnosis.
  • Progress notes completed within current agency guidelines.
  • Responds to supervisory request for urgent care situations and coverage for vacant caseloads.
  • This includes telephones and face to face intervention.
  • Keeps administrative supervisor informed of all potential issues that could impact the program or the organization.
