About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Unix/Linux Systems Administrator to join our Enterprise Technology Group. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of critical distributed systems and middleware platforms that support enterprise operations. You will play a key role in maintaining and evolving our Unix/Linux environment, supporting application teams, and driving system reliability across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of Unix/Linux systems administration experience
  • Strong understanding of: TCP/IP networking (DNS, DHCP, routing, switching) File systems, permissions, and security best practices
  • Experience with: Shell scripting (Bash, etc.) Middleware technologies (Docker, application servers, messaging systems) Virtualization technologies (VMWare, etc.) Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (AWS, etc.) Backup and recovery processes
  • Familiarity with: Storage technologies (SAN) Distributed systems and networking concepts
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Unix/Linux systems across development, test, and production environments
  • Monitor system performance, analyze trends, and proactively resolve issues
  • Install, configure, patch, and tune operating systems and middleware technologies (e.g., Docker, WebSphere, MQ)
  • Troubleshoot system and application issues in collaboration with development and infrastructure teams
  • Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations
  • Participate in the evaluation, testing, and implementation of new technologies
  • Maintain documentation and adhere to change management processes
  • Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and users
  • Participate in on-call support (24x7 rotation)
