The University Laboratory School was founded in 1915 as a model demonstration school to provide/serve as: an exemplary education for its students; a model educational environment; a center for educational innovation and research; professional development opportunities for the state's educators; clinical teaching experiences for pre-service teachers. The Choir Director co-leads the vocal music program for students in a K–12 laboratory school located on a major university campus. The director develops students’ vocal technique, musicianship, and ensemble skills while fostering a lifelong appreciation for choral music. As part of a laboratory school environment, the director models effective teaching practices and may collaborate with university faculty and pre-service teachers.
