About The Position

The University Events Student Assistant supports the University Events team with the preparation and execution of university events. This position provides hands-on experience in event planning, event operations, and event logistics while assisting with both day-to-day event preparation and onsite event support.

Requirements

  • Enrolled as a degree-seeking student at Florida Gulf Coast University at hire and throughout the appointment and in good conduct standing.
  • Experience operations a computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Willingness to learn event management and scheduling software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to assist with the physical setup and breakdown of events.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Canva.
  • Dependable, professional, and comfortable working in a fast-paced event environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, including loading, unloading, transporting, and organizing event materials, décor, signage, and staging items.
  • Provide hands-on support during events and assist the University Events team with event execution as needed.
  • Assist with preparing event materials, including name tags, signage, printed materials, stationery, and other event-related items.
  • Organize and maintain University Events inventory, including tracking event supplies, décor, equipment, and rental items.
  • Assist with preparing and organizing items needed for luncheons, dinners, ceremonies, receptions, and other university events.
  • Support the team with basic administrative and event-planning tasks when not assisting with active events.
  • Assist with maintaining event information and materials within University Events systems.
  • Perform other event-related duties as assigned.
