The University of St. Thomas is seeking mission-driven, collaborative, and passionate students who may be interested in future careers in development, fundraising, and/or non-profits. This program will allow you to explore the roles of various departments that support university advancement efforts including: Development, Donor Relations, Events, Marketing and Communications, Prospect Development, Development Systems, Data Analytics, Alumni Engagement, and Annual Giving. You will understand how these departments collaborate with each other as you learn about projects, systems, and tools that enhance the philanthropic experience at St. Thomas. You will also learn how the 5 T’s of philanthropy – time, talent, treasure, testimony, and ties – connect and enhance the growth of the university and our community. Use knowledge obtained in the fall semester to engage in a University Advancement-specific spring semester hands-on learning experience. The Student Leadership Internship Program gives participants an inside look at the advancement industry, demonstrating how various professions and skill sets work together in a sophisticated advancement department. Through discussion with experts and hands-on experience, students will discover how fundraising, alumni engagement, and strategic communications work together to build lifelong relationships, inspire philanthropy, and create opportunities for future Tommies.
