About The Position

Benchmark at Rye is seeking Universal Workers to assist the community across various departments according to identified needs and supervisor direction, primarily in Activities, Dining, and Housekeeping. The position is scheduled for evenings, 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and pays $20–$23 per hour. It reports to a Care Director.

The Universal Worker helps maintain residents’ living areas and common areas, supports dining and food preparation, and assists with recreational programs. The role also includes observing residents, responding to them appropriately, and providing or assisting with documentation. Workers must follow safe chemical-handling procedures, SDS guidelines, OSHA requirements, and Benchmark Senior Living guidelines.

Requirements

• Understand practices surrounding the proper handling of biohazardous waste.
• Participate in training and in-services as required by Benchmark and state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide housekeeping and laundry services to help keep residents’ living areas clean and operational.
• Clean common areas.
• Assist with dining and food-preparation tasks, including setting tables, bussing, meal delivery, cleaning tables, cooking, serving meals, and dishwashing.
• Assist with recreational programs and encourage residents to participate.
• Observe residents, provide documentation, or assist with documentation.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to residents.
• Demonstrate safe and proper chemical-use techniques and follow SDS guidelines in the event of exposure.
• Adhere to OSHA and Benchmark Senior Living guidelines.
