About The Position

Eventide Jamestown Senior Living is seeking a part-time Universal Worker/CNA to provide high-quality and safe personal care assistance to senior living tenants. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, medication observation, vital sign monitoring, meal preparation, emotional support, and maintaining a clean living environment. The position also includes housekeeping, laundry, and planning life enrichment activities. The Universal Worker will document tenant care, participate in care plan development, and report any significant changes in tenant condition to the nurse.

Requirements

  • Current ND CNA License
  • Current ND MA I license or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Must be trained and pass Eventide’s Home Health Aide (HHA) competency training and test administered by Eventide
  • Must currently be in good standing on all nursing assistant registries in which you have been placed in the U.S.
  • Current CPR/BLS (or its approved equivalency) license required

Responsibilities

  • Assists tenants with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assists tenants with ambulation and/or therapeutic exercises.
  • Observes and/or assists with medications that may have been ordinarily self-administered.
  • May give oral and trans-dermal medications, patches, eye drops, topical ointments, and suppositories under the direction of the nurse.
  • Reads and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and weight.
  • Provides adequate nutrition and fluid intake through meal preparation.
  • Performs blood sugar testing and documents results.
  • Provides tenants with emotional and cognitive support.
  • Socializes with tenants.
  • Listens, converses, and participates in appropriate activities – reading mail, writing letters, etc.
  • Gives guidance, redirection, and re-orientation to tenants as needed.
  • Develops a rapport with tenants and families to understand their needs and interests.
  • Documents in tenant records as instructed and in a timely manner.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and review of the tenant’s plan of care.
  • Recognizes and reports significant changes in the tenant’s health, behavior, and/or general appearance to the nurse.
  • Complies with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Recognizes emergencies and carries out emergency procedures according to policy.
  • Promptly reports any occurrences of physical or mental abuse or potential for vulnerable adult reports to the supervisor.
  • Reviews communication notes at the start of each shift to stay informed of changes.
  • Cleans apartments, service areas, and common areas.
  • Sorts, washes, dries, and folds personal clothing and linens.
  • Re-stocks supplies as needed.
  • Assists with serving meals in the dining room.
  • Performs pet care per policy.
