About The Position

Responsible for performing a broad variety of member services. Answer member questions regarding Credit Union services and perform a variety of account maintenance. Cross sell credit union products and services. Assist or refer members with questions or problems that arise. Attend to all phone inquiries and transactions for members. Assist and support operations staff. Must be available to travel to other offices as needed. Assist the call center in a prompt and courteous manner. Cash drawer handling as needed. Responsible for receiving, and processing applications for consumer loans. Refer home mortgage and home equity loans to Mortgage Lending Officer. Meet with applicants to explain credit policies and to obtain additional loan information and documentation. Present loan requests for approval per loan policy. Ensure that members and prospective members are promptly and professionally served. Responsible for cross sales and goals.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of member services and products provided.
  • Understanding of members bookkeeping procedures.
  • One to three years of experience as a Universal Banker or similar or related experience.
  • Cash handling experience required.
  • Well-developed sales skills.
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills.
  • Solid math and bookkeeping abilities.
  • Ability to interpret and apply financial information.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.).
  • Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment including 10-key and telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Perform member service functions effectively and professionally.
  • Ensure the credit union's quality and professional reputation is projected and maintained.
  • Process member requests, file maintenance, and account changes.
  • Assist the call center and handle service calls promptly and courteously.
  • Answer member questions and solve problems by listening, collecting data, securing answers, and reporting results.
  • Handle cash drawer operations as needed.
  • Process branch cash orders.
  • Assist with ATM balancing and replenishing.
  • Receive, review, and process loan applications effectively.
  • Ensure lending operations comply with credit union policies and legal requirements.
  • Properly document loan requests.
  • Interview applicants for all consumer loan products, including VISA applications, gather information, and process preliminary documentation.
  • Evaluate and verify loan applications and credit criteria, including debt ratios, employment, income, and collateral value.
  • Notify applicants of loan decisions and request additional information if required.
  • Coordinate and process loan closings, ensuring prompt and proper preparation, documentation, processing, approval, and disbursement.
  • Calculate loan terms, finance charges, and insurance for proper disclosure on promissory notes.
  • Assist in servicing loans by processing payoffs, refinances, problem loan workout arrangements, address changes, payment extensions, collateral releases, and payment due date changes.
  • Gather vehicle title documents and verify automobile insurance coverages.
  • Perform automobile appraisals and provide blue book values.
  • Cross-sell ancillary products and auto buying services.
  • Complete call center agent functions effectively and professionally.
  • Receive member telephone inquiries and complaints and handle all calls professionally.
  • Complete research and resolve documentation errors or discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Provide basic information to members on accounts, orders, payments, products, and services.
  • Establish and maintain effective and professional business relationships with members.
  • Counsel members regarding money management and financial matters.
  • Cross-sell all credit union products and services.
  • Advise members of credit union policies and services.
  • Establish and maintain effective coordination and communication with area personnel and management.
  • Attend meetings as required and stay informed regarding legal and regulatory changes.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and significant problems.
  • Assist in training and cross-training of area staff.
  • Complete reports and records promptly and accurately.
  • Prepare loan and all supporting documents as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
