This position assists the branch in meeting performance standards and individual performance standards monthly. It involves interviewing members, processing consumer loan applications, and reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy according to credit union compliance guidelines. The role includes conducting all member account functions, processing requests for new services, providing counseling, and cross-selling appropriate credit union products or services to benefit members and achieve sales goals. The Universal Banker assists members with opening and closing accounts, answers questions about products and services, and resolves problems within their authority, referring complex issues to their supervisor with recommendations. Responsibilities also include accurately receiving, inspecting, and verifying cash and negotiable instruments for deposit, accepting loan payments, and performing various other monetary transactions in accordance with established policies and procedures, balancing transactions daily. The role requires upholding Y12 Federal Credit Union’s culture and core values, demonstrating courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in interactions with members and colleagues. The individual must be able to accurately process account entries and transactions, write routine reports, and construct basic professional and grammatically correct correspondence. Effective communication skills are essential for speaking to members and employees, as is the ability to read and interpret basic forms, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Mathematical abilities for basic arithmetic and percentages are required, along with the capacity to apply reasonable understanding to carry out instructions and deal with problems involving variables. Maintaining a positive attitude, flexibility, and focus on accepted practices, policy, productivity, and effectiveness are key. The role also involves actively participating in branch/department and staff meetings to stay informed on organizational issues and promotional campaigns, remaining current on policy, procedure, compliance, and product development changes. Continuous learning through continuing education classes is expected to enhance job knowledge and performance, providing exceptional service to internal and external members, and taking initiative for personal career development.
