About The Position

The Universal Banker is responsible for deepening customer relationships, attracting new customers, and improving customer service. This role primarily involves assisting with opening new deposit accounts, selling additional products to customers and prospects, and supporting the bank's overall sales efforts. Duties include teller services, problem resolution, account maintenance changes, and managing safe deposit boxes. The position also requires completing sales activities to attract new customers, such as originating outreach letters, soliciting banking relationships, and developing prospect lists, all under the direction of the Branch Manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two-three years of customer service or teller experience.
  • Skills needed in a typical office environment, including computer skills, communication skills, and utilization of office equipment.
  • Dexterity to count money.

Responsibilities

  • Assist walk-in customers with new account needs, including checking, savings, certificates, and IRAs, as a backup to Relationship Bankers.
  • Understand and explain the value of various bank products to customers.
  • Assist walk-in and phone customers with account-related problems or service issues.
  • Engage in sales, cross-selling, and referring customers and prospects to bank accounts, with set production goals.
  • Assist with product promotions.
  • Contact customers by phone to solicit account relationships.
  • Perform paying and receiving functions, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
  • Sell cashier checks, money orders, gift cards, and provide related services.
  • Understand and comply with relevant laws and compliance regulations for teller duties (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, privacy, funds availability policy).
  • Provide a high level of customer service by understanding customer needs and bank products.
  • Support customers with account maintenance questions (e.g., address changes, check orders).
  • Understand, utilize, encourage, and sell electronic delivery products, including online and mobile banking.
  • Troubleshoot common questions and concerns regarding online and mobile banking products.
  • Support the overall sales effort with potential direct sales goals for items like debit cards, direct deposit, automated banking, or referrals.
  • Assist with individual sales goals.
  • Participate in retail product campaigns.
  • Be aware of overall bank product offerings to refer customers to appropriate departments.
  • Assist in the support of other bank activities as part of the team.
  • Actively participate in the community.
  • Follow all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with bank standards for attendance and hours of work.
