About The Position

The Universal Banker serves as the Customer Ambassador for the financial institution, focusing on providing quality and efficient service, often through digital or electronic interfaces. This role involves accurately and efficiently conducting teller and cash vault transactions. Additionally, the Universal Banker is responsible for the sales and servicing of all bank products and services, including soliciting and developing a wide variety of residential mortgage loans. The incumbent collaborates with the operations and sales team to achieve personal goals in deposit growth, business relationship growth, and consumer relationship growth. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of competitor products, services, and promotions is also a key responsibility. The role requires providing operational support and exceptional customer service while adhering to essential controls and safeguards.

Requirements

  • Two years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
  • Two year-college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade.
  • Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attendance and reliability are crucial hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of previous experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receives checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verifies deposit amounts, examines checks for endorsement and negotiability, and posts transactions into bank records via an on-line terminal.
  • Cashes checks and pays money from savings and checking accounts upon verification of signatures and customer account balances.
  • Offers information on bank products and services that can benefit the customer and enhance their banking relationship, based on a thorough understanding of bank products/services and the customer’s current relationship.
  • Evaluates the needs of potential customers and offers appropriate financial products and services.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves customer and internal inquiries in a timely, professional, and accurate manner.
  • Informs and advises customers of status or enhancements to current account productivity and suggests resolutions for account disputes and other account activity.
  • Solicits first mortgage loans, informs prospective loan clients of the financial institution's underwriting guidelines and government regulations.
  • Conducts loan interviews and secures the customer information necessary to initiate a loan transaction.
  • Provides loan information and services to customers, realtors, and others as needed.
  • Completes each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner to permit the good faith estimate to be mailed within the requested three business day period.
  • Screens loan requests based on financial institution policies and on the types of loans offered by the institution.
  • Communicates approvals or denials to the borrower.
