About The Position

The Universal Banker - Float position provides excellent service to customers in accordance with Peoples Bank policies. This role involves opening deposit accounts, handling CSR transactions, selling and cross-selling bank products and services, generating and executing consumer loans, and resolving customer service issues. The position engages in sales and service activities in branch locations and contributes directly to the success of the banking center by recognizing and uncovering opportunities for sales referrals. This position will also refer customers to the appropriate source or channel to address their needs. A key aspect of this role is traveling to various locations, potentially daily, to provide excellent service and support staffing needs at different branches. Reliable and timely daily transportation is required due to consistent travel.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1-year work related experience in customer service
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail
• Proficient in basic computer operations and standard applications, with the ability to quickly learn and navigate job-specific software to perform daily tasks with accuracy and efficiency
• Proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Daily reliable and timely transportation due to consistent travel to various branches in the footprint to support staffing needs
• Role requires consistent standing to perform role. Bending or squatting may also be required to access night drops, coin machines, vaults, ATM, etc. based upon the branch set up.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. consistently.
• Must be able to travel to attend internal education and meetings which in some circumstances could include overnight stay. Travel also required to fill in at other branches as needed.
• Must be able to pass background and credit standards to hold NMLS credentials.

Responsibilities

• Deliver superior customer service with a friendly demeanor, can-do attitude, and willingness to help at all times.
• Develop and retain the customer base, greet by/use name, have knowledge of account ownership, and be responsive and timely with correspondence and problem resolution.
• Maintain a position of trust and responsibility by keeping all customer business confidential.
• Maintain balancing and error record that is in line with policy and have the ability to find and correct outages and to enlist help as needed for more difficult errors.
• Process complex multi-step transactions.
• Research and offer solutions to resolve customer issues by using knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources, and provide follow-up on resolution.
• Receive checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verify deposit amounts, and examine checks for endorsement and negotiability.
• Acquire, use, and maintain consumer lending product knowledge and abilities to generate and execute consumer loans, lines, and deposit products.
• Be self-motivated and assertive with an ability to perform well in a sales environment and interact well with customers and team members in a professional manner.
• Turn service encounters into dialogue-based meetings where other needs can be uncovered.
• Consistently meet or exceed sales referral goals as set by management.
• Maintain a well-developed working knowledge of the complete line of products and services offered.
• Initiate conversations to uncover customer needs to be capable of effectively referring customers to business partners for the selling and cross-selling of bank products and services.
• Consistently complete required training for all bank and branch policies and procedures.
• Interpret documents such as safety rules, account documents, operating and maintenance instructions, consumer loan documents, and procedure manuals.
• Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Define and offer solutions to resolve problems, using knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources.
• Follow operational standards regarding security, risk management, and compliance.
• Make sales calls via phone or zoom to clients and/or prospects on a weekly basis to meet calling goals of the branch while recording those calls in Salesforce.
• Interpret data to evaluate for acceptable lending ratios and product and service opportunities.
• Meet scheduled working hours as designated by manager to ensure effective functionality of the branch to meet client needs.
• Meet Retail Branch Standards which includes dress code.
• Perform special projects as assigned.
