Unity Developer (AI forward)

Marvik•Colorado Springs, CO

About The Position

Join as a Unity Developer to build AI full-stack solutions and shape an engineering culture that values autonomy, creativity, and technical excellence. This role involves a central position in defining future products, taking end-to-end ownership of the agentic AI layer, and utilizing AI-assisted development as a primary practice. The company uses a modern, multi-cloud stack (MongoDB + SQL, Azure + AWS) and offers significant influence over architecture, technical standards, and engineering culture. It's a high-bar technical environment where architectural decisions impact multiple teams and products.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience, including production ownership of customer-facing features.
  • Full-stack engineering experience: Demonstrated production experience shipping across the full stack. Comfort with at least one statically-typed backend language, at least one modern frontend framework, and both NoSQL and SQL data stores.
  • Strong proficiency in C#/.NET, or the ability to ramp on it quickly.
  • Hands-on production experience building and shipping Unity (C#) applications, including scene/prefab architecture, component lifecycle, input and UI, performance, and editor/runtime split.
  • Experience integrating a Unity client with backend services (auth, data sync, publishing).
  • Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining automated tests with the Unity Test Framework (NUnit), including PlayMode integration tests and EditMode unit tests, and running them in CI.
  • Strong debugging skills to trace issues through complex systems, reproduce edge cases, and identify root causes.
  • Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent) as part of the daily workflow, with clear judgment on AI output.
  • Working understanding of CI/CD pipelines and optimizing DevEx for a dev team.
  • Understanding of SOLID, DRY, KISS, YAGNI, and TDD principles and their application.
  • Working understanding of security best practices and safe handling of PII/sensitive data.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work directly with product managers, designers, and customers.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Advanced English proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer-facing AI experience, building production agentic workflows (multi-step planning, tool calling, structured outputs, retrieval), and the evals, guardrails, and observability that make them safe to ship.
  • Familiarity with an agent framework or SDK (e.g., Claude Agent SDK, OpenAI Agents SDK, LangGraph) or with MCP.
  • Mobile deployment experience with Unity, iOS/Android build pipelines, device performance, and app-store release management.
  • Familiarity working with data derived from CAD/BIM or other 2D/3D model sets, or 3D rendering and visualization experience.
  • Experience deconstructing monoliths into modular or service-oriented architectures, and with event-driven or message-based integration.
  • Domain knowledge of MEP, BIM, or construction fabrication workflows, or an AEC engineering background.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Unity (C#) field applications for sketching, configuring, and publishing pipe, duct, and other MEP work from the jobsite.
  • Write production Unity code covering scene and prefab architecture, component lifecycle, input handling, UI, performance, and the editor/runtime split.
  • Own the client-to-cloud integration path, including login, publishing, and data sync between the Unity client and Stratus services, ensuring fidelity and error handling.
  • Build and maintain automated tests using the Unity Test Framework (NUnit), including PlayMode integration tests and EditMode unit tests, to reduce stack-transfer fragility.
  • Ship features and customer-facing enhancements across the full stack (backend services, APIs, data, web front end), based on product specs and customer feedback.
  • Design and build services and APIs that connect the web platform and cloud data.
  • Investigate and fix customer-reported bugs by tracing issues across client, service, and data layers.
  • Implement and maintain modern automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end) and contribute to monolith decomposition and modernization.
  • Use AI-assisted development tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) as a first-class part of the dev loop, writing tests for AI-generated changes and exercising judgment on AI output.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and customer-facing teams to define, design, scope, and ship features, grounding technical decisions in real workflows.
  • Coordinate deployments and incident response with peers, advocating for incremental delivery.
  • Share knowledge and raise the engineering bar through code review and pragmatic best practices.

Benefits

  • AI-assisted development as a first-class practice
  • Modern, multi-cloud stack: MongoDB + SQL, Azure + AWS
  • Real influence over architecture, technical standards, and engineering culture
  • High-bar technical environment
