Unit Technician - ICU - PRN
About The Position
Under the supervision of the Director or delegate, the Unit Tech will be proficient in two of the following: Nursing Assistant, Unit Clerk or Monitor Tech. The role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, providing basic care, maintaining a safe and clean environment, performing clerical and receptionist duties at the nurse's station, documenting and coordinating unit activities, and monitoring patient cardiac rhythms. The Unit Tech will also be responsible for notifying nurses of any changes in cardiac rhythms and intervening in life-threatening arrhythmias.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS is required
Nice To Haves
- One year of health care experience is preferred
- Previous unit clerk, nursing assistant and monitor tech experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Assists patients with activities of daily living.
- Provides basic care to patients.
- Assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
- Assists in planning, organizing and implementing activities that occur in the nurse’s station.
- Responsible for clerical and receptionist duties.
- Responsible for documentation, communication and coordination of nursing unit activities.
- Maintains the physical environment of the area.
- Responsible for ongoing surveillance of patient’s cardiac rhythm.
- Provides nurses with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms.
- Recognizes and intervenes in life threatening arrythmias.
- Responsible for documentation, communication and coordination of activities related to monitoring telemetry tracings.
