About The Position
Under the supervision of the Director or delegate, the Unit Tech will be proficient in two of the following: Nursing Assistant, Unit Clerk or Monitor Tech. The role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, providing basic care, maintaining a safe and clean environment, performing clerical and receptionist duties at the nurse's station, documenting and coordinating unit activities, and monitoring patient cardiac rhythms, including intervening in life-threatening arrhythmias.
Requirements
- Proficiency in two of the following: Nursing Assistant, Unit Clerk, or Monitor Tech.
Responsibilities
- Assists patients with activities of daily living.
- Provides basic care to patients.
- Assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
- Assists in planning, organizing and implementing activities that occur in the nurse’s station.
- Performs clerical and receptionist duties.
- Responsible for documentation, communication and coordination of nursing unit activities.
- Maintains the physical environment of the area.
- Responsible for ongoing surveillance of patient’s cardiac rhythm.
- Provides nurses with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms.
- Recognizes and intervenes in life threatening arrythmias.
- Responsible for documentation, communication and coordination of activities related to monitoring telemetry tracings.
