About The Position

The Unit Secretary (US) in the Emergency Department (ED) plays a crucial role in supporting physicians, staff, patients, and other customers. This position requires adaptability and flexibility to meet the changing needs of patients and the unit, while maintaining excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The role involves serving as a patient advocate in a fast-paced, high-volume department that serves a diverse population. The Emergency Department offers flexible scheduling, educational and career growth opportunities, and a supportive team environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • No experience required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention training within 90 days and maintained annually required
  • Possess organization skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all tasks to meet the needs of physicians, staff, patients, and other customers
  • Interactions include consideration for patient population specific needs
  • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in schedule and/or workload assignment necessary to meet changing needs of the individual patient or unit
  • Acceptable use of interpersonal relationship skills and communication with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, all disciplines and other customers
  • Serves as a patient advocate
