About The Position

The Unit Secretary attends nursing station and performs clerical duties, requisition supplies, equipment and services as directed. This role is crucial for the smooth operation of the NICU nursing station, ensuring that necessary resources are available and administrative tasks are handled efficiently. The Unit Secretary plays a key part in supporting the nursing staff and maintaining an organized environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 0 - 1 year Clerical work experience demonstrating proficient computer, phone and office equipment utilization (Required)
  • Emergency Center Employees: Crisis Response Training required within 6 months of hire (Required)
  • Behavioral Health Employees: Crisis Response Training required within 2 months of hire (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Non Degree Program in Medical Terminology Course or unit secretary certificate program (Preferred)
  • 0 - 1 year Experience in a Health Care Setting (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (e.g., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
  • For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age-specific customer service skills.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
