About The Position

This role involves maintaining clinical standards, fostering strong communication with healthcare providers, and delivering patient-focused care. Key responsibilities include patient advocacy, education, and ensuring confidentiality. The position requires meticulous documentation of clinical data, managing logs, and maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies. Additionally, the role involves accurate medication dispensing, payment processing, and managing medical supplies. The Unit Secretary-Pharmacy Technician will also be responsible for administrative tasks such as making copies of X-rays, scanning documents, and tracking medication stock.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willingness to travel to surrounding clinics to support

Responsibilities

  • Maintain appropriate clinical standards and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Build strong positive communication with physicians and other providers.
  • Administer high-quality, patient-focused healthcare, recognizing patient rights and advocating for informed decision-making.
  • Initiate patient education plans and ensure care respects personal values and beliefs.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and ensure private health information is secure.
  • Maintain clinical documentation, including Narcotics Sales Logs, Medication Sales Logs, and prescription filing.
  • Accurately document all clinical patient care data on paper charts and EMR.
  • Utilize equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources efficiently.
  • Restock supplies and medications as needed.
  • Participate in department quality improvement activities and staff educational programs.
  • Attend departmental meetings and maintain clinical competency.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance training and other regulatory training.
  • Ensure patient worker’s comp statuses are created accurately and sent to the appropriate facility.
  • Respond to and/or refer patient and pharmacy phone consultations, documenting appropriately in EMR.
  • Offer and fill appropriate medications accurately as prescribed by a physician.
  • Accept payments for medications, in-house services, and other balances.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and ensure maintenance of Scope of Practice.
  • Make copies of all X-rays for patients with imaging studies.
  • Scan all pertinent documents related to patients’ charts and patient’s continuance of care.
  • Regularly keep track of medication stock and keep the clinic stocked with appropriate medications.
  • Maintain a medication sales average as directed for each shift worked.
