About The Position

This is a hybrid position that combines the responsibilities of a Unit Secretary and a Patient Care Tech. The role involves delivering compassionate daily care to patients, assisting with personal care and daily living activities, and ensuring patients feel supported, comfortable, and treated with dignity. You will also safely support patient mobility by guiding and assisting patients with movement and positioning, protecting their physical safety while helping them build momentum in their recovery. As an essential clinical observer, you will act as vital eyes and ears for the care team by identifying and reporting subtle shifts in physical or emotional conditions to nursing staff, advocating directly for patient safety. You will maintain accurate care journeys by documenting patient care and observations promptly to ensure seamless communication across the healthcare team and maintain high standards of record-keeping. Additionally, you will create a safe, healing environment by maintaining clean, orderly patient rooms and well-prepared medical equipment to foster a hygienic, welcoming space for healing.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with their personal care and daily living activities, ensuring they feel supported, comfortable, and treated with dignity throughout their stay.
  • Guide and assist patients with movement and positioning, protecting their physical safety while helping them build momentum in their recovery.
  • Identify and report subtle shifts in physical or emotional conditions to nursing staff—advocating directly for patient safety.
  • Document patient care and observations promptly to ensure seamless communication across the healthcare team and maintain high standards of record-keeping.
  • Maintain clean, orderly patient rooms and well-prepared medical equipment to foster a hygienic, welcoming space for healing.
  • Handle discharge paperwork.
  • Manage follow-up appointments.
  • Process work orders.
  • Answer the unit phone.
  • Create and break down charts.
  • Print S Bars for admissions.
  • Fax paperwork for the facility and make packets.
  • Obtain records from other facilities.
  • Perform Teletracking updates.
  • Schedule MCT monitors.
  • Perform refrigerator and blanket warmer temperature checks.
  • Perform crash cart checks.
  • Perform general cleaning of break rooms, refrigerators, and microwaves.
  • Perform equipment/voalte checks and logs.
