Capital Health is seeking a Unit Secretary for a full-time, day shift position in the Mental Health Inpatient unit at Capital Health Medical Center. This role is crucial for maintaining patient chart integrity, managing unit supplies, and facilitating communication within the unit. The Unit Secretary will transcribe physician orders, maintain patient care tools like Kardex and MAR, and ensure all patient charts are accurate and compliant with Medical Records guidelines. They will also manage patient census boards, log books, and computer databases, ensuring all information is current. Additionally, the role involves expediting the delivery of materials and supplies, preparing unit charges, and handling telephone communications. The Unit Secretary will also coordinate patient movements, provide non-clinical information to visitors, and assist in answering call bells and managing medication deliveries. This position requires a high school diploma or GED, one year of experience in a secretarial role or current enrollment in a healthcare program, and knowledge of medical terminology and transcription skills. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused and able to handle the physical demands of the role, including frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, pushing/pulling, and fine motor activities.
