The Unit Secretary in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) performs clerical and receptionist duties while providing quality customer service, under the direction of the RN, Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, or designee. The ICU is a 24-bed Medical/Surgical unit that is fast-paced and high acuity, staffed with Critical Care Intensivists/APPs 24/7. The staff mix includes Registered Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, and Patient Care Technicians. Typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:2/1:3. The unit manages conditions such as Sepsis and Multi-System Organ failure, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Targeted Temperature Management (TTM) for post cardiac arrest, and Advanced Invasive & Non-Invasive Hemodynamic Monitoring. They also manage Arterial lines, Flotrac/EV 1000, Central Venous Catheters, EKOS Ultrasound Accelerated Thrombolysis, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Impella, titration of vasopressors and continuous paralytics, use of BIS monitor/TOF monitor, management of Pacemakers, complex respiratory failure patients requiring advanced ventilatory support, Post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, Acute Stroke Care with Alteplase management, management of Shock (cardiac, septic, hypovolemic), management of neurosurgical patients including care of external ventricular devices, and patients with ARDS requiring manual prone therapy.
