About The Position

MercyOne Clinton Medical Center is seeking a Unit Secretary/Nurse Assistant to join their healthcare team. This role involves providing patient-centered care by assisting with activities of daily living and addressing patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, all while upholding the mission and values of MercyOne Clinton. The position also includes performing clerical and receptionist duties under the supervision of the Unit Director, such as transcribing physician orders, entering data into the computer, scheduling diagnostic tests and therapies, assembling patient charts, maintaining medical records, completing billing documentation, answering phone calls, and relaying messages. The Unit Secretary is expected to demonstrate professional behavior consistent with the organization's standards.

Requirements

  • Certified Nurse Aide, verification of certification from the State of Iowa.
  • Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
  • Must be able to work concurrently on a variant of tasks in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.
  • Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change.
  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
  • High school education or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living.
  • Addressing patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • Performing clerical and receptionist duties.
  • Transcribing selected physician orders.
  • Performing order entry on the computer.
  • Scheduling diagnostic tests and therapies for patients.
  • Assembling admission and discharge charts.
  • Maintaining patient medical records.
  • Completing documentation for billing.
  • Answering telephone calls.
  • Providing routine approved information via telephone and in person.
  • Relaying calls and messages to appropriate staff.
