About The Position

Children’s Minnesota is a leading pediatric health system dedicated to providing specialized care exclusively for children. As The Kids Experts™ in our region, we operate two hospitals, multiple specialty and rehabilitation sites, and nine primary care clinics, serving the Upper Midwest. The special care nursery in Minneapolis is a 33-bed unit within the Mother Baby Center, caring for babies aged 32 weeks and older who require a higher level of care, as well as full-term babies needing specialized attention. Our multidisciplinary team, including nurses, social workers, therapists, neonatologists, and nurse practitioners, collaborates to create a supportive environment for patients, families, and staff, emphasizing teamwork, communication, safety, and respect. We foster a culture of learning and professional growth, dedicated to delivering excellent patient and family care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • 1-year of experience in a patient care setting preferred
  • Outstanding professional and positive customer service skills essential
  • Positive attitude
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, or hospital technology systems
  • Ability to coach others with hospital technology systems
  • Competent with basic medical terminology
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a clear understanding of English language (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Self-directed, organized, and problem solver
  • Ability to multitask, direct and support information processes on patient care units, work independently and within a team

Responsibilities

  • Provides exemplary customer service to families, staff, providers, and visitors, both in-person and by phone.
  • Answers questions promptly and correctly, and problem-solves as needed.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for phone calls to the units.
  • Arranges for deliveries to patient rooms.
  • Directs visitors to their destinations.
  • Maintains a safe and welcoming environment, modeling service excellence.
  • Acts as a key liaison to other departments, providing necessary tools for their functions.
  • Supports patient care on the unit(s) and provides overall administrative support.
  • Serves as the unit's technology resource.
  • May be required to float to other hospital departments as needed.
