About The Position

This role requires an individual who can work independently and possesses a strong understanding of nursing practices, procedures, and relevant state laws and regulations for long-term care facilities. The Unit Manager- RN must demonstrate leadership capabilities, working harmoniously with and supervising LPNs and non-professional staff. They will be responsible for implementing facility programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, while adhering to company policies, including harassment and complaint procedures. Effective communication in English is essential, along with the ability to direct daily functions of unit nurses and CNAs, provide and coordinate resident care, and administer medications accurately. The role involves responding to emergencies, coordinating resident care plans, practicing dependable attendance, and utilizing concentration, reasoning, and judgment skills within an interdisciplinary team. Specific duties include charting appropriately, administering medications and IV fluids, observing and reporting changes in resident conditions, providing basic resident care and treatments, and sterilizing equipment.

  • Must possess the ability to work independently.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as the applicable state laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the long-term care facility.
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other LPNs and non-professional personnel.
  • Must have the ability to implement the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the facility.
  • Must understand and follow company policies, including harassment and complaint procedures.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to practice dependable, regular attendance.
  • Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
  • Must be able to communicate and function in an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively direct the daily functions of unit nurses and CNAs to provide leadership on the floor.
  • Chart appropriately, accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Provide and coordinate resident care.
  • Accurately prepare and administer medication as ordered by physician.
  • Respond to emergency situations related to resident and staff safety in a leader capacity.
  • Coordinate resident care plans and services with RN.
  • Administer prescribed medications or start intravenous fluids, and note times and amounts on residents’ charts.
  • Observe residents, charting and reporting changes in residents’ conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and taking any necessary action.
  • Provide basic resident care and treatments, such as taking temperatures or blood pressures, dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas or douches, rubbing with alcohol, massaging, or performing catheterizations.
