About The Position

The Cardiology Unit at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is seeking a patient-focused, compassionate Unit Coordinator who is passionate about delivering exceptional care and customer service in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Our Cardiology Medicine unit, KM 9, is a collaborative 32-bed unit staffed by dedicated professionals committed to providing safe, high-quality, holistic care for patients with cardiac conditions. As part of this engaged team, you will contribute to a care environment that truly makes a meaningful difference in patients’ lives. Located in BIDMC’s new inpatient facility, the unit features a state-of-the-art setting designed to enhance both patient and provider experiences, including access to a rooftop healing garden for patients, families, and caregivers. This position is scheduled for four days per week with every other weekend required. Weekend hours are 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., with weekday shifts consisting of a mix of 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m..

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 0–1 year of related experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Basic computer skills with web-based applications
  • Clear and professional written and verbal English skills

  • Associate’s degree
  • Administrative experience in a healthcare setting

Responsibilities

  • Support smooth day-to-day unit operations
  • Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers with nursing and admitting teams
  • Help ensure providers have the supplies and information they need
  • Communicate details for tests and procedures
  • Assist with registration processes as needed
  • Respond promptly to call lights following BIDMC standards
  • Welcome and guide patients, families, and visitors
  • Provide helpful, non-clinical information
  • Deliver outstanding service in every interaction
  • Use key systems such as: Provider order entry, Bed tracking, Nurse call systems
  • Ensure accurate data entry and timely responses
  • Act as a resource for basic system troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot printer, copier, and fax issues
  • Help maintain equipment and ensure proper usage and charging
  • Coordinate special equipment needs (e.g., specialty beds)
  • Maintain logs and support compliance-related activities (JCAHO)
  • Manage patient valuables securely
  • Track and investigate lost items
  • Maintain logs and escalate unresolved issues
