The Surgical Suites is seeking a medical professional to work as a Unit Coordinator, with Day time availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage. This role functions as the liaison between the patient, visitors and the clinicians, providing administrative support to unit-based and hospital-wide clinicians and staff in an inpatient unit. The Unit Coordinator is expected to effectively organize priorities, complete tasks on time, manage confidential patient information, and partner with nursing to coordinate the day-to-day patient flow. This includes communication to key players regarding patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, while providing outstanding service for every customer interaction. Actual job duties may vary by department. The role performs clerical and other duties to assist in the general administration of the floor or unit, greets and interacts with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers professionally, and receives, prioritizes, organizes, and manages information at the central nursing station and throughout the unit. Additionally, the Unit Coordinator schedules consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transport, enters accurate and timely information into the electronic medical record, contacts ancillary service departments for equipment, services, and supplies, and tracks their status and location. They may also assist the manager with payroll duties, staff scheduling, or supervision of unit secretaries, and perform other duties as assigned, complying with all policies and standards.
