The Unit Coordinator is responsible for scheduling all surgical procedures in the computer system, ensuring adequate time is allotted for each procedure, and being aware of supply needs and limitations. This role coordinates interdepartmental needs of scheduled cases, such as room availability. The Unit Coordinator also enters patient charges in a timely manner, completes batch headers, reconciles charges within the allowed timeframe, and maintains various databases, spreadsheets, and project documents. They communicate all information regarding scheduling changes to all involved persons and/or departments and prepare a final version of the daily surgical schedule for distribution and/or viewing on computer monitors by appropriate areas within the established timeframe.
