Responsible for general communications on the nursing units, including telephone and written communication. This role involves assembling and maintaining patient charts, answering phones professionally, maintaining patient records, performing various clerical duties, coordinating administrative work, and reporting pertinent information to supervisors. The Unit Clerk also responds to staff and patient inquiries, ensures chart accuracy, manages supply inventories, handles faxing and photocopying, distributes mail and announcements, obtains necessary reports, and reports equipment or environmental issues.
