About The Position

Pediatric Specialty Care (PSC) is seeking a detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join their nursing and clinical team. This role is crucial for maintaining communication flow, coordinating appointments, ensuring record accuracy, and preparing clinical teams to provide exceptional care to children. The Unit Clerk acts as the organizational heartbeat of the nursing unit, supporting medical records, appointment coordination, nursing team needs, admissions/discharges, communication, and daily unit operations. PSC provides specialized care for medically fragile and technology-dependent children in a warm, supportive, home-like environment. The Unit Clerk's role is vital to the efficient operation of the units and contributes to the mission of helping children reach their fullest potential.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, typing, data entry)
  • Organized, dependable, and able to multitask
  • Friendly, professional communication skills
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level

  • Experience with medical terminology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate, organized medical records and clinical documentation
  • Coordinating and scheduling medical appointments, labs, dental, audiology, diagnostic services, and follow-up care
  • Supporting documentation for admissions, discharges, transfers, and care plans
  • Ordering, organizing, and monitoring nursing unit supplies
  • Maintaining accurate EMR information, resident census, and unit records
  • Assisting with pharmacy reviews, prior authorizations, insurance updates, and supporting documentation
  • Answering calls and providing professional, welcoming assistance to staff, families, visitors, and healthcare partners
  • Providing day-to-day administrative support to the Director of Nursing (DON), Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), and nursing leadership
  • Helping ensure important information gets to the right person, at the right time
