The Unit Clerk will perform clerical and receptionist duties. Under the direction of the Staff RN, the Unit Clerk is responsible for watching monitors, maintenance of patient charts, transcription of orders and answering telephones.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills
Professional telephone etiquette

Responsibilities

Perform clerical and receptionist duties
Watch monitors
Maintain patient charts
Transcribe orders
Answer telephones
Observe telemetry monitors and alert RN of changes
Maintain additional patient packets
Update patient charts, graphs vital signs, heights and weights
Perform general receptionist duties: answers phone, screens calls, refers calls, takes messages, greets and assists visitors
Transcribe physician orders and has knowledge of order entry system
Monitor patient destination and location of patient charts
Answer intercom promptly and communicate patient needs to appropriate nursing staff
Maintain department records and statistics
Orient and train new employees
