About The Position

Methodist Specialty Care Center (MSCC) is seeking a compassionate, organized, and dependable Unit Clerk to join our team. MSCC provides specialized long-term care for young adults with severe disabilities in a supportive environment focused on dignity, independence, and quality of life. As a Unit Clerk, you will play an important role in supporting the daily operations of the nursing unit. You will help coordinate communication among residents, families, visitors, nurses, and other members of the care team while ensuring the unit remains organized and runs efficiently. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with standard office technology
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with residents, families, visitors, and staff
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Nice To Haves

  • Some college coursework preferred
  • Previous clerical, secretarial, healthcare, or unit clerk experience preferred
  • Medical terminology experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate the flow of information among residents, families, visitors, and staff to support daily unit operations
  • Transcribe and process information as directed from the medical record
  • Operate the nurse call system and appropriately communicate messages and requests
  • Enter and maintain information accurately using applicable computer systems
  • Maintain organized and efficient unit operations
  • Order and maintain unit supplies to ensure adequate inventory
  • Keep the designated work area clean, organized, and ready to support daily activities
  • Provide courteous and professional communication with residents, families, visitors, and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the nursing unit
