About The Position

The Unit Clerk prepares and compiles records, and processes orders in a hospital setting, by performing the following duties, supporting the nursing philosophy. May include weekends, holidays, day, evening, or night shift hours. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of Unit clerk course or equivalent on the job training.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Processes orders in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Answers the telephone and call lights appropriately and provides information or relays messages to patients and staff.
  • Directs visitors to the room of the patient.
  • Maintains medical records of current patients.
  • Processes patient charges and orders supplies as needed.
  • Floats to various units based on identified need.
  • Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.
