The Unit Clerk Monitor Technician reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns, current patterns, and prior variances. They observe cardiac monitor screens and listen for alarms to identify abnormal variations in heart rhythm, informing the RN caring for the patient in an urgent manner of any variances. This role also provides shift reports as requested, completes appropriate documentation, and measures the length and height of a patient's heart rhythm pattern on graphic tape readouts, posting this information on patient records. The technician will triage the ongoing appropriateness of telemetry services, discussing with their supervisor, and process orders accurately and in a timely manner. Additionally, they answer the telephone and call lights appropriately, providing information or relaying messages to patients and staff.
