About The Position
The Unit Clerk Monitor Technician is responsible for continuous observation of cardiac monitors and interpretation of heart rhythms (EKGs). This role ensures timely communication of critical changes in patient cardiac status and supports safe, effective clinical care in ICU/CCU settings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written communication
- Basic computer skills
Responsibilities
- Identify normal and abnormal EKG rhythms
- Notify nursing staff of rhythm changes and patient requests
- Remain calm and effective during emergency situations
- Post EKG strips promptly
- Complete assigned tasks
- Adapt to workload fluctuations
- Participate in quality measures
- Complete daily clerical duties
- Perform effectively in emergency situations
- Demonstrate teamwork and flexibility
- Maintain knowledge of EKG rhythms
- Understand cardiac arrest procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of telemetry and monitoring systems
