About The Position
The Unit Clerk Monitor Technician is responsible for continuous observation of cardiac monitors and interpretation of heart rhythms (EKGs). This role ensures timely communication of critical changes in patient cardiac status and supports safe, effective clinical care in telemetry settings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and understand verbal/written communication
- Basic computer skills
Responsibilities
- Identify normal and abnormal EKG rhythms
- Notify nursing staff of rhythm changes and patient needs
- Remain calm and effective during emergencies
- Post EKG strips promptly
- Complete assigned duties
- Adapt to workload changes
- Participate in quality measures
- Complete clerical work by end of shift
- Perform effectively in emergencies
- Demonstrate teamwork
- Maintain knowledge of EKG rhythms
- Understand cardiac arrest responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of telemetry systems
