About The Position

The Unit Clerk Monitor Tech plays a critical role in supporting the efficient operation of healthcare units during night shifts by managing communication systems and monitoring patient status through various technological tools. This position ensures that all incoming and outgoing information is accurately recorded and promptly relayed to the appropriate medical staff, facilitating seamless patient care. The role requires vigilance in monitoring electronic systems to detect any alerts or changes in patient conditions, enabling timely interventions. The Unit Clerk Monitor Tech also coordinates with nursing and medical teams to maintain organized documentation and support clinical workflows. Ultimately, this position contributes to patient safety and quality care by serving as a reliable communication and monitoring hub during overnight hours.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • One year previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a unit clerk or monitoring role is highly preferred
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and hospital communication systems.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Ability to work overnight shifts and maintain focus during extended periods of monitoring.

  • Experience with specific hospital monitoring technologies or software.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards.
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills demonstrated in a clinical environment.
  • Additional training or coursework in healthcare administration or clinical support.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patient status and unit activity through electronic monitoring systems during night shifts.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls, intercoms, and electronic messages, ensuring accurate and timely information flow.
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of patient information, unit activities, and communications in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Coordinate with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to relay critical information and support patient care processes.
  • Respond promptly to alerts and emergencies by notifying appropriate personnel and documenting actions taken.
  • Assist with clerical duties such as scheduling, data entry, and managing unit supplies as needed during the shift.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
