About The Position

This position is responsible for the efficient operation of the health care unit through demonstration of consistent organizational and communication skills. This position assists RN's, LPN's, PCT's and Physicians in the patient care process. The Unit Assistant assists the nursing staff in monitoring the heart rhythms of patients on telemetry. The ability to interpret dysrhythmias and respond quickly and appropriately in the notification of nursing staff is essential. Some record keeping and posting of rhythm strips may be required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of EKG rhythm education course required.
• Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety, principles of physical care and comfort.
• Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
• Must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity in use of keyboard.

Nice To Haves

• Prior training in EKG rhythm strip interpretation preferred.
• One year of clerical experience preferred.
• Previous Hospital experience preferred.
• Medical terminology training preferred.
