The Unit Aide, in applicable department, provides compassionate patient care to mother baby couplets. Under the direction of the registered nurse, this individual provides direct patient care and works collaboratively with other patient care team members including the patient and family, to achieve optimal patient outcomes. All care is provided under the direction and supervision of a registered or licensed nurse. The Unit Aide assists with activities of daily living and delegated patient care treatments and procedures. Is responsible to assist with ambulation of patients, turning patients and promoting comfort. The Unit Aide, in applicable departments, prepares the surgical suite prior to cesarean births and supports the SST and circulating RN. The Unit Aide is responsible for maintaining medical records, transcribing orders, answering telephones, and taking and relying messages appropriately. Additionally, Unit Aides in ARU, may be responsible for the following: making follow up appointments upon patient discharge, ordering Durable Medical Equipment and helping with data entry, provider charges, supply ordering and insurance follow up via phone/fax.
