About The Position

The Unit Assistant II performs administrative and clerical duties in support of an assigned clinical area. Under the direction of clinical staff, contributes to the delivery of patient care that promotes the well-being and safety of all patients and staff. This role involves greeting patients and visitors, answering inquiries, scheduling appointments, and managing telephone calls. The Unit Assistant II also performs general clerical duties, creates reports, assists patients with technology, and supports basic patient care following established workflows. Effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members is essential. The role includes performing unit safety checks, assisting with patient needs, and potentially aiding with meals, activities, and patient transport. Maintaining unit and patient room cleanliness and organization, ensuring safety checklists are completed, and coordinating meeting schedules are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients, visitors, and new admissions.
  • Answers general inquiries and schedules patients for appointments.
  • Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls.
  • Performs general clerical duties including filing, email correspondence, and mail distribution.
  • Creates various reports and documents as assigned.
  • Helps patients/residents with basic technology and social media.
  • Assists with general patient care following established workflows.
  • Communicates with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care.
  • Performs unit safety checks.
  • Assists with meeting patient needs and escalates as appropriate.
  • May assist with meals, pass and collect trays, pass out activities, and transport patients/residents through facility.
  • May assist with stocking supplies and keeping unit and patient rooms clean and orderly.
  • Ensure unit and patient rooms are stocked, clean, and orderly.
  • Ensure required safety checklists and quality controls are completed and action taken if indicated.
  • Coordinate meeting schedules and maintains meeting minutes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
