This position performs administrative and clerical duties in support of an assigned clinical area. The Unit Assistant I will greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, file, distribute mail, and perform other general clerical duties. They will communicate with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol. This role involves scheduling patients for individual appointments in a timely manner, providing assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through order entry processes, transfers, and discharges. The Unit Assistant I will also assemble and maintain patient charts, coordinate and schedule meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested, and maintain meeting minutes. Additionally, they will enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.
