About The Position

The Design Liaison Engineering team within Gas Turbine Engineering (GTE) provides critical design engineering support to GE Vernova's global supply chain partners. This team operates with a strong focus on urgency, quality, and innovation, serving as a crucial link between supply chain manufacturing and design engineering groups. Their primary goal is to maintain high technical rigor to ensure product quality while addressing the urgent needs of the supply chain and customers. The Engineer in this role will specifically concentrate on providing unit assembly and rotor support for all types of Gas Turbines (GTs) offered by GE Vernova. This involves supporting both internal factories, particularly GVL, and external suppliers with needs related to piece part machining and/or assembly across all components that constitute a GT. Key responsibilities include delivering optimal solutions for customers, driving defect reduction, managing qualifications, analyzing and dispositioning non-conformances, performing hand calculations and Ansys FEA as required, overseeing specific actions related to engineering drawing revisions, applying lean principles to enhance productivity, and generally contributing to solving significant challenges in the construction of GT engines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college; or relevant experience that would be equal to a bachelor’s degree.
  • 1-2 years of experience in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Ability to handle US-export controlled information.

Nice To Haves

  • Gas Power Edison Engineer, Completion of LPX, Teardown Training, Progress toward completion of Engineering Masters degree &/or ACE Certificate
  • Relevant experience in working with the unit assembly &/or rotor manufacturing team.
  • Understanding of GT rotors & assembly including various critical inspections involved.
  • Experience in programming with Python, VBA, and/or other languages.
  • Understanding of GD&T & ability to interpret engineering drawings and BoMs.
  • Ability & interest to learn new things quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality solutions to address deviant hardware and design support for CAs to help reduce or prevent repeat incidents.
  • Conceive innovative ideas to solve unit assembly & rotor manufacturing and design problems.
  • Leverage hand calculations, CAD, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for analysis supporting dispositions to deviant hardware, redesign efforts, and drawing revisions to support improved manufacturability.
  • Support factory test initiatives and challenges as needed.
  • Conduct technical reviews for design tasks with Controlled Title Holders (CTHs).
  • Evaluate and mitigate component, assembly, and/or system level risks.
  • Execute standard work and design templates for common issues encountered for specific components/assemblies.
  • Identify creative ways to improve and create our processes, design methods, and manufacturing methods.
  • Maintain strong relationships with supply chain teams.
  • Keep abreast of new NTI, NPI, and emerging fleet services issues.
  • Drive technical rigor and integrity in all aspects of design and post-design work.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including Global Supply Chain, Quality, GTE NPI Design, MPE, PDE, Controlled Title Holders, Systems, Performance, Repair, Heat Transfer, etc.
  • Lean into the GTE Engineer 2030 initiatives to drive enhanced productivity & improved quality with upskill in automation & AI applications.
